A scientist surveying a creek in California’s Bay Area for an environmental restoration project stumbled upon something far older than expected: a remarkably well-preserved mastodon tooth believed to be at least 10,000 years old, Yahoo! News reported. Researchers say the discovery could help them learn more about prehistoric animals that once roamed the West Coast.
