City of North Bend release - Public Notice - City of North Bend Planning Commission; Case No. 627-25-000021-PLNG Marijuana Text Amendment - The North Bend Planning Commission will hold a public hearing to consider a proposed text amendment to the North Bend Municipal Code related to marijuana uses. The hearing will include a review of the proposed amendment, the staff recommendation, and an opportunity for the public to provide comments before the Commission makes its decision. The staff report will be available on the City’s website in the Planning Commission packet at least one week prior to the hearing. Lane County Sheriff’s Office ends 2025 with 26 Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) arrests, 7 convictions so far The Lane County Sheriff’s Office has investigated at least 35 offenders this year related to online child sexual abuse material. These arrests are part of the Lane County Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force operations. The Sheriff’s Office has a digital forensics detective and a major crimes detective assigned to the task force. The ICAC cases they work are in addition to their regular case load, which also includes child sex abuse cases unrelated to ICAC. According to the Oregon Department of Justice ICAC database, since January of this year, the Lane County Sheriff’s Office has investigated: - 35 offenders with 26 ICAC-related arrests - 9 of which were “hands on” offenders as well - 62 search warrants, 43 court subpoenas - 5 child rescues from ongoing abuse - 14 newly identified child victims - 8 technical assists for other law enforcement agencies There is still a lot of work to be done. Our detectives are currently working 34 active cyber tips where suspects have been reported by electronic service providers for child sexual abuse material. Of the ICAC cases our detectives have made arrests on, 7 have been convicted and sentenced so far: - William Harold Berry, 112 months - Ralph Anthony Pocza, 86 months - Brett Ronald Steele, 45 months, downward departure - James Watson Gilbert, 108 months - Ford D’Angelo Ke’Shawn, 60 months - Noah Alan Starkey-Gomes, 60 months - Matthew Allen Drake, 600 months The Lane County Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force is a collaborative effort by local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to combat child exploitation and protect vulnerable members of our community. While each local agency makes arrests on their own cases, the members of the task force work collaboratively to investigate offenders throughout all of Lane County. The task force consists of investigators from the Lane County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police, Eugene Police Department, Springfield Police Department, Cottage Grove Police Department, FBI, Department of Homeland Security, Oregon Department of Justice, and the Lane County District Attorney’s Office.Photos from Lane County Sheriff's Office's post
