City Councilor Elana Pirtle-Guiney proposed the city set aside $150,000 to pay for legal services for immigrants and refugees.

Amid a nationwide crackdown on immigration, the Portland City Council is weighing a proposal to redirect funds from the city’s budget for legal expenses to help a small number of immigrants at risk of facing deportation.
