Lakeside, OR - On September 17th 2026, at 6:00 p.m., a Coos County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a report of a brush fire on Airport Way near U.S. Hwy 101.  
  
During the investigation, deputies identified a suspect as Thomas Chapple (43). Mr. Chapple was arrested on the charge of Arson I. Lakeside Fire extinguished the blaze without further property damage.  
  
Thomas Chapple (43) was transported to the Coos County Jail on the charge of Arson I. Mr. Chapple was booked and remains in custody.  
  
“Police action is not indicative of guilt.  All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.”
