Ultimook XC

Marshfield’s girls were 15th (415) out of 28-teams in Saturday’s Ultimook 5K Varsity Girl’s 1A-41 Run at Hydrangea Ranch, near Tillamook. Philomath (39) won the team title, while Tillamook was 11th (352). Philomath’s Cassidy Smart (18:48.25) was first, Taft’s Ava Zalewski was 14th (21:11.63), and Newport’s Alexandra Curtis 15th (21:17.42). Marshfield freshman led the Pirate girls Kendall Qualman 59th (23:39.95). Knappa (75) won the Boy’s 1A-4A Varsity 5K race with Neah-Kah-Nie second (79). Tillamook was 14th (423), Newport 16th (529), Marshfield 18th (540), and Seaside 36th (894) out of 41-teams. Gus Kirby, Neah-Kah-Nie (16:16.19) took first-place, Rowdy Justus was second (16:35.80). Avery Chandler, Newport, sixth (16:50.14). Tillamook’s Diego Velazquez eighth (17:01.04. Mason Vu, Nestucca, 27th (18:30.60). Marshfield’s Ezra Kern, 64th (20:02.80). Marshfield goes to the Country Fair Classic, Wednesday, Sept. 9th, Veneta.

Fugate Farms Invite XC

Roseburg (28) won the boy’s team title at the Fugate Farms Invite Cross-Country Run Saturday, but Beckett Pahls of Bandon won the individual championship and pushed his Tiger team to second-place (42) in the six-team competition. Alex Martinez led Reedsport in 12th (18:35.23), while Mason Simonson (19:30.24) was 20th for Gold Beach. Nicholas Roberts was 36th (21:57.36) for Brookings-Harbor. Bandon’s girls took first; however, only the Tigers and Mazama had complete teams. Bandon’s Jael Legutki took first-place (19:22.64). Brookings-Harbor’s Leila Newman was third (20:49.94), Gold Beach’s Coco Plaep took seventh (22:08.14).

Marist Invite XC

At the Marist Invite, Saturday, Eugene, North Bend’s Addison Horning won the girl’s 5K race (19:55.60) over 41 other runners. West Salem took first place (44), while North Bend was third (78) out of six-teams. Freshman Raleigh Collier lead North Bend’s boys with a fourth-place finish (16:42.30), out of 55-runners. Marist (54) won the team title with North Bend seventh (155), out of eight-teams. North Bend, Bandon & Coquille go to the Umpqua Opener, Wednesday, Sept. 9th.
