Prep volleyball scores from Friday, Sept. 12: 2A – Bandon beat visiting Pacific, 3-0. At the Sheridan Tournament, Saturday, Jefferson beat Warrenton, 2-1. Taft over Jeffersn, 2-0. Warrenton downed Sheridan, 2-1. Taft beat Neah-Kah-Nie, 2-0. Myrtle Pt. won over Yamhill-Carlton, 2-0. Myrtle Pt. downed Taft, 2-0. Myrtle Pt. beat Toledo, 2-0.

3A Brookings-Harbor is scheduled to play at Del Norte HS, Crescent City, CA, Monday, Sept. 15, in a non-league volleyball match. In the 2A: Powers at Bandon, 6 p.m.

At the Caveman Classic cross-country meet near Grants Pass, Saturday, Brookings-Harbor’s Patrick Hatch was 37th overall (23:32.50) on the 5K course. Benjamin Glass, Grants Pass, won (17:10.7). Crater’s Ava Ontiveros won the girls’ varsity race (20:21.90). Gold Beach’s Coco Plaep was 10th (22:51.40) and Brookings-Harbor’s Aubrey Harlan was 32nd (27:37.80). Siuslaw ran at the Ash Ck. Festival, Monmouth, Saturday. The Vikings’ Adyline Holbrook was 17th in the girls’ varsity 5K race (21:24.10). Siuslaw’s Henry Stone was seventh in the boy’s race (16:21.80), leading the Vikings to third place overall. Newport’s Avery Chandler won the Stayton Invitational, Saturday (17:22.0). The Cubs were fourth overall in the team scores. Not to be out done, Newport’s Alexandra Curtis won the girl’s race (20:55), helping the Cubs to third place overall. Taft won the girl’s team race as Ava Zalewski was the top runner for the Tigers in third-place (21:36).
