The 4A Sky-Em League volleyball regular season came to an end Thursday night with both Bay Area teams at home. North Bend (0-8, 3-15) fell to league champion, and top-ranked, Marist Catholic (8-0, 21-1), 3-0, while third-ranked Marshfield disposed of 12th ranked Junction City (2-6, 10-11) at the Pirate Palace, Coos Bay, 3-0. Marshfield (5-3, 12-8) finishes tied for second with eighth-ranked Cottage Grove (5-3, 12-6), but according to MHS Athletic Director Casey McCord, there will not be a playoff between the two, instead they will both go into the upcoming playoffs. On the Central Coast – OR West Conf.: fourth-place Newport (3-7, 10-11) lost at second-place Philomath (8-2, 15-6), 3-0. Second-ranked Cascade (9-1, 15-5) won the League. In the 3A Far West Lg: Coquille is the league champion. The eighth-ranked Lady Devils (10-0, 14-6) beat visiting So. Umpqua, 3-1. Glide fell at third-place Sutherlin, 3-0. Second-place Douglas (8-2, 14-4), and ninth-ranked, won at Siuslaw (1-9, 6-14), 3-0. On the North Coast – Coastal Range Lg.: 16th ranked Banks won the league championship and defeated second-place Warrenton (8-4, 12-8), 3-0. Third-place Corbett (8-4, 11-11) won at fourth-place Neah-Kah-Nie (6-6, 9-13), 3-1. In 2A – North Coast – Northwest Lg.: Nestucca (6-8, 9-13) lost at second-place Faith Bible/Life Christian (8-6, 11-8), 3-2. Seventh-ranked Clatskanie (13-1, 19-3) and fourth-ranked, Portland Christian (13-1, 17-2) tied for first. Marshfield will host the 4A OSAA State Tournament, Nov. 8th & 9th, while North Bend hosts the 3A OSAA State Tournament on the same dates. Ticket information at www.osaaa.org.
