Prep football scores from Friday, Sept. 27: 4A - North Bend picked up a non-league road win at Sweet Home, 20-12. The Bulldogs (2-2) open District 4 League play next Friday, Oct. 4, 7 p.m., Vic Adams Field, at home to Ashland (1-2). 3A – Newport (1-3) lost at Blanchet Catholic, 52-18. Phoenix lost at Coquille (2-2), 42-21. Brookings-Harbor (2-2) won at St. Mary’s (Medford), 34-14. 2A – Waldport (2-2) beat visiting Sheridan, 48-12. Bandon (3-1) downed visiting Monroe, 61-8. Visting Colton won at Reedsport (2-2), 47-18. 1A6 – Powers (4-0) won at McKenzie, 68-7.

Prep volleyball scores from Saturday, Sept. 27: at the Junction City Tournament, Pool Play: North Bend and Siuslaw tied, 1-1. North Bend beat Klamath Union, 2-0. Newport & Siuslaw tied, 1-1. Siuslaw downed Gladstone, 2-0. Siuslaw beat Elmire, 2-0. North Bend over Siuslaw, 2-0. North Bend beat Junction City, 2-1 in the finals. Brookings-Harbor Tournament: Brookings-Harbor beat McKinleyville (CA), 2-0. Creswell Invite: Monroe beat Bandon, 2-0. 2A Sunset Conf.: Reedsport won at Illinois Valley, 3-2.

Prep girls’ soccer scores for Friday, Sept. 27: Newport won at Tillamook, 9-1. Prep boys’ soccer scores for Friday, Sept. 27: 4A: Newport/Waldport and Tillamook tied, 1-1 at Newport. Saturday: 3A/2/A/1A: Umpqua Valley Christian lost at Bandon/Pacific, 2-1.

Marshfield’s Jaxson Stovall won the Willamette Golden Hour 5K at Willamette High School, west Eugene, Friday, Sept. 27. The Pirate junior was timed in 16:54.27. Teammate Ayden McNamee was fifth overall (18:43.44). Junction City won the three-team race with 36-points, Willamette second (38), followed by Marshfield (47). The Lady Pirates Lily Thompson was fifth (21:58.64) in the girl’s race. Lola Esplin, Junction City, won in 18:44.88. JC won the team race with 21-points, followed by Willamette (50) and Marshfield (55). The Pirates next run at the Harrier Classic, Albany, Saturday, Oct. 5. North Bend had a bye and will next run Oct. 5 at the Stan Goodell Invite, Hidden Valley HS, Grants Pass. Newport competed at the Nike Portland XC. Nineteen races were offered. The Cubs’ boys ran in the 5K Danner Championships and were 19th overall. Senior Finn Collson led Newport in 56th (15:59.3). Siuslaw, Coquille & Bandon went to the Champs Invite, Cheadle Lake Park, Lebanon, Friday. Diego Zambrano, a junior at Santiam Christian won the boy’s 5K race in 16:08.10. Siuslaw freshman Henry Stone was seventh for the Vikings (16:49.80) and Bandon freshman Beckett Pahls was 22nd (17:30.80) for the Tigers. Banks won the 28-team meet with 65-points, Siuslaw was third with 105 and Bandon fourth (188). Siuslaw won the girls race with 104-points, Coquille was third with 132 and Bandon tenth with 234. Red Devil freshman Ella Henthorn was second overall in 18:47.30. Daisy Lalonde, a senior for East Linn Christian, won in 18:28.70. Siuslaw senior Addison McNeill led the Viks in 17th (21:10.40). Tiger sophomore Giada Moore led Bandon in 31st (21:53.90). Siuslaw hosts the Woahink Lake XC Invitational, Saturday, Oct. 5. Gold Beach ran at the Grizzly Invite, Oak Knoll Golf Course, Sutherlin, Friday. Freshman Coco Plaep was 20th in the girl’s race (23:12.47).
