Prep Winter Practices Begin

Schools within the OSAA will be allowed to start practice for the prep Winter Season, Monday, Nov. 18th. Sports include boys’ & girls’ basketball, co-ed wrestling, swimming, dance and cheer.

Prep FB Playoffs

Semi-finals are set for the OSAA/OnPoint Community Credit Union State Prep Football Playoffs following quarter-finals games over the weekend. Powers, a 1A (6) man team will carry the South Coast flag into the “final fours.” The No. 1 and top-ranked Cruisers (10-0) are slated to play South Wasco Co. (8-3) at Cottage Grove, Nov. 23, 1 p.m., following their win Saturday, at Marshfield, over Joseph 54-33. Myrtle Pt./Pacific (8-3) fell in the 2A QFs to unbeaten Oakland, 29-14 at Sutherlin HS. Oakland (11-0) will play Gervais (9-1) at Cottage Grove, Nov. 23, 4:30 p.m., in one semi-final. Despite winning at North Valley earlier in the season, 14-7, Siuslaw (9-1) lost its 3A QF at home to the visiting Knights, 55-22. North Valley (9-2) takes on unbeaten Vale (11-0), in the semi-final round, Saturday, Nov. 23, 1 p.m., at Summit HS, Bend. In the 4A semi-finals, Saturday, Nov. 23rd, it’s all one-loss teams: Scappoose (10-1) plays Marist Catholic (10-1), 1 p.m., at McMinnville HS, and Henley (10-1) and Cascade (10-1) play at 4:30 p.m., Grants Pass HS. All of the semi-finals will be broadcast on the OSAA Radio Network at www.osaa.org. Some of the games will also be televised on the NFHS Network.

Prep SC Playoffs

High school soccer championships were played Saturday, at Liberty High School, Hillsboro, for the OSAA OnPoint Community Credit Union State Soccer Championships. In the boy’s brackets, Henley, of Klamath Falls, beat North Marion, of Aurora, 3-2 in two overtimes on Penalty Kicks, 2-1 to win the 4A title. Two Portland area private schools were in the 1A/2A/3A championship, Catlin Gabel beat Oregon Episcopal, 1-0. In the girl’s 1/A/2A/3A final, Catlin Gabel beat Central Linn/East Linn Christian (Albany), 5-0. And, in the 4A final, Marist Catholic (Eugene) downed La Grande, 5-0.
