OSAA/Dance

Marshfield’s dance team, “The Upbeats,” placed third (76.94) at the 2026 OSAA/OnPoint Community Credit Union State Championships, Saturday, Salem Pavilion. Scappoose (78.14) was first in the 4A/3A/2A/1A Traditional and Astoria (77.69) second. Newport (66.64) was sixth. In the 5A/4A/3A/2A/1A Jazz, North Bend was fifth (63.11). Silverton won (82.06). In the 5A/4A/3A/2A/1A Pom: Marshfield (77.22) was fifth. West Albany (81.31) took first.

Marshfield’s prep boys’ volleyball team won its season opener, Wednesday, March 18, over Junction City, 3-1, at Marist Catholic, Eugene. The Pirates dropped their second game to Marist Catholic, 3-0. Marshfield (1-1) is scheduled to play at Phoenix on April 1, 6:30 p.m. North Bend’s boys lost both matches at Marist Catholic, 3-2 to the host Spartans, and 3-1 to JC. The Bulldogs (0-2) also travel to Phoenix on April, 1, 4:30 p.m.

Prep baseball scores from Friday, March 20 – 4A: Marshfield downed visiting Newport, 5-1. Warrenton won at North Marion/Gervais, 17-5 (5). 3A: Brookings Harbor beat Lost River, 16-6 at GP. Pleasant Hill fell at Taft, 12-2. Neah-Kah-Nie won at Harrisburg, 15-13. 2A/1A: Monroe/Alsea won at Toledo, 20-1. North Douglas/Elkton won at Reedsport, 17-6. Nestucca won at Waldport, 12-0. At the Gold Nugget Varsity Baseball Tourney, Yreka, CA, Mt. Shasta (CA) beat Bandon, 10-2. Saturday, March 21 – 3A: Neah-Kah-Nie won at Coquille, 15-1. Sutherlin won at Myrtle Pt., 6-5, but the Bobcats got the second game, 9-6. 2A/1A: Knappa fell at Ilwaco (WA), 21-2 (5). Yreka beat Bandon, 7-6.
