The 2026 Prep Football Season opened Friday with jamborees and non-league games. North Bend fell at Sutherlin, 29-14 in Ryan Goll’s debut as the new Bulldog head coach. Marshfield played at the Cottage Grove Jamboree. Other 4A teams along the Coast: Central won at Tillamook, 42-7. In the 3A, Siuslaw/Mapleton beat visiting Coquille, 44-0. Gold Beach lost at Brookings-Harbor, 35-12, in the Battle of Curry Co. Newport was at the Junction City Jamboree. In 1A-6, Powers beat visiting Eddyville Charter, 31-7. Saturday: Weston-McEwen lost at Myrtle Point, 54-6. Next Friday, Sept. 4, Astoria at North Bend. Philomath at Marshfield. Seaside at Junction City. Newport at Taft. Brookings-Harbor at Rogue River. Warrenton at Scio. Nestucca at Toledo. Waldport at Bandon. Neah-Kah-Nie at Oakridge. Glendale at Reedsport.

The 2026 Prep Volleyball Season opened on Thursday with some jamborees and non-league matches. In the 4A: Santiam Christian lost at Taft, 3-2. Taft beat Salem Academy, 3-0. Junction City beat Harrisburg & Monroe by matching 3-0 scores. Warrenton won at Knappa, 3-0. Toledo fell at Nestucca, 3-0. On Friday: Catlin Gabel won at Taft, 3-0. Toledo won at Western Christian, 3-2. On Saturday: Tillamook lost at The Dalles, 3-1. Coquille beat North Bend, 3-0. Elmira downed Siuslaw, 3-0. Reedsport fell to Elmira, 3-0. At the Cascade Christian Invite, Marshfield lost to Creswell, 2-0. At the Warrenton Kick Off, Seaside beat Knappa, 2-0. Warrenton over Seaside, 2-1. Siuslaw beat Reedsport, 3-1. Nestucca beat Rainier, 2-1. Neah-Kah-Nie bettered Knappa, 2-0. At the Grant Union Tournament, Prairie City lost to Gold Beach, 2-1. Gold Beach lost to Heppner, 2-0. Gold Beach beat Dayville/Monument, 2-0. Heppner beat Gold Beach again, 2-0. Gold Beach beat Grant Union, 2-1 and beat Lakeview, 2-0. Nestucca fell to Sheridan, 2-1.
