First games of the girls’ prep basketball season continued to roll out this past weekend with non-conference, jamborees and tournament games throughout Oregon. In the 4A girls Friday, Dec. 5: North Bend downed Cascade Christian, 50-33 at Medford. Cottage Grove beat visiting Scio, 55-25. Coquille Winter Lakes Classic: Coquille beat Junction City, 43-15. Red Lion Round Robin Tourney, Pendleton, Taft fell to La Grande, 60-48. Central Oregon Tip-Off Tourney: Redmond beat Seaside, 68-34. 3A: Brookings Coastline Classic – So. Umpqua lost to Brookings-Harbor, 67-13. Coquille Winter Lakes Classic – Toledo beat Siuslaw, 43-33. Westside Winter Jam – Neah-Kah-Nie lost to Westside Christian, 36-27. 2A: Bandon beat Southwest Christian, 43-34. Waldport lost to No. Douglas, 48-46. Monarch Invitational – Myrtle Pt. beat Monroe, 69-38. New Hope Showdown – Alsea over Gold Beach, 47-29. 1A: Mapleton Winter Classic – Pacific lost to Trout Lake, 52-14. Saturday, Dec. 6 – 5A: Marshfield beat Churchill, 40-22, at Mac Court. Seaside downed Bend, 69-38 at the Central Oregon Tip-Off Class. 4A: Astoria lost at Banks, 49-20. Coquille Winter Lakes Classic – Siuslaw lost to Junction City, 40-16. Red Lion Round Robin Tourney – Taft fell to Pendleton, 59-56. Toledo lost to Coquille, 50-6, Coquille Winter Lakes Classic. 2A: Bandon beat Lowell, 63-13. Myrtle Pt. lost 54-52 to Umpqua Valley Christian at Monarch Invitational. Gold Beach beat New Hope Christian, 54-15 at New Hope Showdown. 1A: Southwest Christian beat Powers, 35-34.

Marshfield’s boy’s wrestling team opened the 2025-26 prep season at the Perry Burlison Invitational, Cascade HS, Turner. The Pirate boys had two placers, Garron Castro, 4th at 120 and Skylar Folau, 3rd at 285. Marshfield’s girls competed a the Willlie Wilinson Tournament, Sutherlin, and took first-place. Renee Anderson was 1st at 140. Ankiya Guyton, 3rd, 125. Marissa Hedrick, 5th, 125. Paige Johnson, 4th, 110. Amina Palacios, 1st, 110. Olivia Shield, 1st, 170. Melody Standon, 3rd, 110. Annhelena Vancannon, 4th, 130. Lana Wright, 1st, 155. Lexie Wright, 2nd, 140. At the Battle at the Border, Crescent City, CA, North Bend’s Shawn Perez won first-place at 106. North Bend will host the North Bend Classic, Dec, 12-13.
