2024 SPRING STREETS PROJECT FINAL PHASES

Bid in fall of 2024, work is just now getting underway for the last of the 2024 Spring Streets Projects. The City of Coos Bay has contracted with Johnson Rock Products to perform a road rehabilitation project for South Nineth Street between Central Avenue & Anderson Avenue and Central Avenue from South Eleventh Street to Ocean Boulevard. The work on South Nineth Street will consist of the full reconstruction of the failed road subbase from the alleyway north to Central Avenue, and the grind and inlay of the road south of the alleyway. The work for this section is scheduled to begin on April 16, 2025, and wrap up on Friday April 18, 2025, weather dependent. The second phase of this project will be to grind and inlay portions of east bound Central Avenue from South Eleventh Street to Ocean Boulevard. This phase of the project will begin later, due to the materials that will be used for surface finishing. This phase will also include the installation of a bike lane to the east bound lane, and modification of the bike lane on the west bound lane of Central Avenue. A new crosswalk, and new Rapid Flashing Beacons, and the elimination of the center left turn lane that does not comply with current standards.
