Prefontaine Rotary Invitational Track Meet

Crook County’s boys’ & girls’ teams both won the 23rd Annual Prefontaine/Rotary Invitational Track Meet at Marshfield High School, Coos Bay, Saturday. Highlighting the meet were several broken records, including the 1969 Marshfield School Record in the 4X400 Relay. The Pirate team of Carter McGriff, Chandler Wyatt, Quinton Kloster & Bodey Lutes dueled Crook Co. in the race with both finishing below the meet record and setting school records in the process. Marshfield was timed in 3:21.99, tops in the 4A Classification, while the Cowboys followed the Pirates with the second fasted time of the season (3:23.57) in the long relay race. Crook Co. also set another 4A top time with Adam Radabaugh in the 800 (1:57.10). North Bend’s Miles Baxter flirted with the meet record in the boy’s High Jump of 6-05. Baxter had three good attempts at 6-05.25, but had to settle for 6-04. Girls’ team scores: Crook Co. 138, Coquille 101, North Bend 84, Bandon 77.5, Marshfield 67, Arcata 55, New Hope Christian 37, Central Linn 33, Pacific 23, Grants Pass 14.5, Myrtle Pt. 13, Sutherlin 9, Elkton 5 & Oakland 5. Boys’ team scores: Crook Co. 178, Marshfield 118, North Bend 65, Arcata 49, Sutherlin 47, Bandon 43, Grants Pass 34.5, Central Linn 27.5, Myrtle Pt. 27, Elkton 15, Oakland 14, Glendale 13, Pacific 9, New Hope Christian 6, & So Umpqua 6.

Prep softball scores for Friday, April 18: 4A – Sky-Em Lg.: Marshfield split at Junction City. Tigers won the opener 9-8, but the Lady Pirates took the second game, 16-8. North Bend also got a split on the road at Cottage Grove. Lions won the opener, 4-3, but the Bulldogs go the second game, 11-10. 3A – Far West Lg.: Douglas swept two at Coquille, both in five-innings, 16-0 & 11-0. South Umpqua took two at Siuslaw, 16-1 & 16-0. SOC: Brookings-Harbor swept two from visiting Rogue River, 13-10 & 13-3. 2A/1A - SD4: Toledo won at Bandon, 31-13. Reedsport with a win at Waldport, 19-5 (5). SD1: North Coast, Nestucca split with visiting Vernonia/Jewell. Nestucca won the first game, 14-6, but lost the second, 9-4. Knappa swept two at Gaston, 15-3 & 16-1.
