Prep football scores from Friday night, Oct. 11: 4A – SkyEm Lg.: Marshfield picked up its first win of the 2024 prep season with a 41-33 decision at Ashland. The Pirates (1-1. 1-5) host Hidden Valley (0-2, 2-4), Friday, Oct. 18, 7:15 p.m. North Bend lost at defending State Champion Henley, 48-24, in the Klamath Basin. The Bulldogs (1-1, 3-3) host Mazama, Friday, Oct. 18, 7 p.m. Mazama won at Hidden Valley, 34-7. The Vikings (2-0, 3-3) are at Vic Adams Field, Friday, Oct. 18, for North Bend’s Senior Night and Miss Flame Game. Henley (2-0, 5-1) plays at Ashland (0-2, 1-5), Friday, Oct. 18, 7 p.m. 3A: Special Dist. 4 – In the battle for first-place at Florence Friday night, Siuslaw beat visiting Douglas, 38-30. The Vikings (2-0, 5-0) host Sutherlin (1-1, 5-1), Friday, Oct. 18, 7 p.m. Sutherlin won at Brookings-Harbor, 37-13. The Bruins (0-2, 2-4) play at South Umpqua, Friday, Oct. 18, 7 p.m. The Lancers (1-1, 4-2) won at Coquille, 31-7. The Red Devils (1-1, 3-3) play at Douglas (1-1, 5-1), Friday, Oct. 18, 7 p.m. 2A Special Dist. 4 – Reedsport lost at Gold Beach, 42-20. Bandon fell at Myrtle Pt./Pacific, 53-0. Oakland won at Illinois Valley, 44-0. This week’s games have: Bandon (0-2, 3-3) at Gold Beach (1-1, 1-5). Myrtle Pt./Pacific (2-0, 5-1) at Oakland (2-0, 6-0). Marshfield junior Jaxson Stovall won the Paul Mariman Invitational Cross-Country Meet Saturday at Philomath. Stovall ran 16:35.40 over the 5K course. Philomath junior Leo Pausch was second in 16:47.70. The Dalles won the 18-team meet with 67-points. Philomath was second with 84. Marshfield was ninth (248) and Bandon, led by freshman Beckett Pahls’ 12th place (18:06.10) finished fourth as a team. Philomath won the 12-team girls’ race with 37-points. Senior Alaina Casady took the individual win over the 5K course in 19:58.20. Sophomore Giada Moore led Bandon in 18th (22:14.20) leading the Tigers to 8th place (186). Marshfield was 12th (275). Newport was incomplete as a team. Cub sophomore Alexandra Curtis finished 19th (22:26.40). Newport and Siuslaw both ran at the Rose City Championship Invitational, Saturday, Rose City Golf Club, Portland. In the 5K Varsity Championship, Siuslaw sophomore Clayton Wilson was 10th overall (14:58.40). Newport senior Finn Collson was 31st (15:29.90). The Cubs finished 16th (387), Siuslaw incomplete, as Boise won the 23-team race with 112-points. Siuslaw’s girls won the Varsity Silver race with 86-points. Junior Alison Hughes led the Lady Viks in 3rd (19:13.00). Siuslaw’s boys were sixth (177) in the Varsity Silver Race. Lakeridge won with 82. Freshman Henry Stone led the Vikings in seventh (16:15.38).
