For the third week-in-a-row, Marshfield’s football team has put 40-points on the board in winning three preseason games. Last Friday night, the Pirates traveled to Sisters to play Baker in a cross-state non-league contest and beat the Bulldogs, 49-0. Second-ranked Marshfield (3-0) has one more pre-season game at Junction City (1-1), Friday, Sept. 19, 7 p.m., before taking a week off and then starting league play Oct. 3rd. JC won at Woodburn Friday night, 30-13. North Bend lost for the first time this season Friday night at Estacada (2-1), 28-6. The Bulldogs (1-1) travel to Philomath (1-1), Friday, Sept. 19, 7 p.m., to play the Warriors. Other games involving 4A Special District 4 teams: Henley (1-0) opened the season with a 33-7 win at home over visiting Marist Catholic (0-3). Hidden Valley (0-1) opened with a 54-6 loss at home to Cascade Christian (3-0). Other area teams: 3A - Siuslaw got its first win of the season at home, 24-23, over visiting North Valley. The Vikings (1-1) are at Cascade Christian (Medford), Sept. 19. After losing to North Valley, 44-6, to open the 2025 Prep Season, Coquille (1-1) bounced back Friday night with a 34-0 win over visiting Cottage Grove (1-1). Brookings-Harbor lost at Pleasant Hill, 33-20. Sisters won at Taft, 20-6. Newport fell at North Marion, 24-23. Warrenton lost at Dayton, 35-0. 2A – Gold Beach improved to 3-0 with a 44-20 win over visiting Illinois Valley. The Panthers are at Lost River (1-1), Sept. 19. Like Marshfield, Bandon has put up over 40-points in the Tigers’ first two games. Last Friday it was a 45-6 win over visiting Gaston (1-1). Bandon (2-0) hosts Bonanza (0-2), Sept. 19. Myrtle Pt. bounced back from an opening game one-point loss at Knappa to beat visiting Toledo, 52-6, Friday. The Bobcats (1-1) host Illinois Valley (1-1), Sept. 19. Glide beat visiting Waldport, 52-6. 1A6 – Powers lost their second straight, 56-19, at home to Triangle Lake, Friday. The Cruisers (1-2) play at Days Creek (1-1), Sept. 19. Other games from the Coast: 4A – Tillamook won at La Grande, 33-26. Scappoose fell at top-ranked Cascade, 59-37. Seaside lost at Banks, 42-13. Astoria won at The Dalles, 32-6. 3A – Sisters won at Taft, 20-6. Newport lost at North Marion, 24-23. Warrenton lost at Dayton, 35-0. 2A – Central Linn lost 50-12 at Nestucca. Knappa won at Regis, 47-0. Neah-Kah-Nie fell at Corbett, 56-28.
