Marshfield’s basketball teams both picked up 4A Sky-Em League wins at home Tuesday night over visiting Junction City. The Lady Pirates (8-1, 13-7) downed the Tigers 48-40 in the opener maintaining their hold on first-place, while the Pirate boys (9-0, 18-2) did the same to JC, 57-28. Marist Catholic maintains second in both league races after winning at North Bend. The Spartan girls (7-2, 13-6) won, followed by the boys (7-2, 14-5), 61-40. Three games to go in the regular season. Also, in the 4A, Newport swept visiting North Marion, 50-45 in the girls’ game and 72-42 in the boy’s game in the Oregon West Conference. In the 3A boys: Siuslaw won at Coquille, 52-28 and Lakeview downed Brookings-Harbor, 51-42 at St. Mary’s, Medford. In the 2A boys: East Linn Christian won at Waldport, 85-35. In the boy’s Sunset Conf.: Oakland won at Gold Beach, 56-24. Myrtle Pt. downed visiting Illinois Valley, 54-48. Visiting Bandon over Reedsport, 59-36. In the girl’s 3A: Coquille downed visiting Siuslaw, 47-9. Lakeview beat Brookings-Harbor, 51-45 at St. Mary’s Medford. In 2A Valley Coast Conf.: East Linn Christian won at Waldport, 56-22. Sunset Conf.: Oakland won at Gold Beach, 63-27. Bandon won at Reedsport, 67-14. Myrtle Pt. beat visiting Illinois Valley, 57-35.
