Newport (11-2) has moved into the top spot in this week’s OSAA/Coaches 4A Prep Basketball Poll. The Cubs are followed by Molalla (14-1), Scappoose (11-3), Marist Catholic (8-3) and Marshfield (7-6) at No. 5. Astoria (10-4) is No. 10. The OSAA/OnPoint Community Credit Union State 3A Basketball Tournament will take place in the Bay Area, March 5-7. In the boy’s current rankings: Valley Catholic (14-1) is No. 1, followed by Westside Christian (13-3), Riverside (12-3), Pleasant Hill (12-3, and Cascade Christian (12-3) at No. 5. Portland Christian (14-0) tops the 2A Poll and Union 14-1) is tops in the 1A Poll. Parkrose (12-2) tops the 5A and Central Catholic (8-4) leads the 6A.
