Prefontaine HS Run

Grant Pass’ boys (69 pts.) & girls (54) swept the team honors at the 14th annual Prefontaine High School Memorial 5K Run in Coos Bay Saturday. Bandon’s boys (124) came in third. Marshfield’s girls (128) were fourth out of the 28-teams competing. Individual honors went to Coquille’s Ella Henthorne (17:58.5), who won the girl’s race and Bandon’s Beckett Pahls (15:53.0) who won the boy’s race (15:53.0). Also in the boy’s: Raleigh Collier was fourth (16:20.8) for North Bend. Donald Brice was 18th (17:16.2) for Marshfield. Alex Martinez (18:17.6) was 48th for Reedsport. Mason Simonson (18:54.2) 63rd for Gold Beach. Nicholas Roberts (21:43.3) 127th for Brookings-Harbor. Wyatt Strouts (22:01.6) was 131st for Coquille. Marshfield’s boys were seventh in the team race (198) & North Bend eighth (228). Also in the girl’s race: Bandon’s Jael Legutki (18:32.0) was third. North Bend’s Addison Horning (19:08.8) took fourth. Marshfield’s Kindall Wyatt (20:49.3) 16th. Coco Plaep topped Gold Beach (22:31.6) in 37th. Brynn Honeycutt (24:14.0) led Brookings-Harbor in 62nd.

Prefontaine Memorial Run

Former Marshfield runner Jackson Stovall won the 45th Annual Prefontaine Memorial Run in Coos Bay, Saturday and claimed the first-place prize of $500. Now attending Western Oregon University, Stovall ran the 10K course in 31:44.0. Annie Behrend, from Central Point, won the women’s race in 39:59.5 to take home $500. Total runners and walkers who finished the four races was 763.
