The 44th Annual Prefontaine Memorial 10K Run takes place Saturday morning, Sept. 20th, 10:05 a.m. starting at 4th and Anderson in downtown Coos Bay.  Prize money is being offered for the first time this year for both the top three male and female runners.  Runners will head west on Central Ave., up Ocean Blvd., turn around just past La Clair St. and return on Ocean Blvd. to 10th, on to 9th and into the stadium to finish on Prefontaine Track.  There is no admission charge to watch the finish or awards presentation.  Police will block off the course until 11:15 a.m.  The high school 5K race will begin at 9:45 a.m., same starting place, same course, but the turnaround is shorter.  Twenty-six prep teams, including a boys’ team from New Zealand, will be challenging the course as well as the final standings.
