Description

Benjamin Christensen recently visited the North Portland neighborhood he lived in as a child in the early 1980s. He and his adoptive family had spent two years in Portland before moving back to southern Oregon’s North Bend, then on to Rochester, New York, where they remained. Christensen eventually became a gynecologist obstetrician at a hospital in Rochester. He has returned to Portland several times in recent years to reconnect with his birth mother and to meet with other newly discovered relatives.

Staff for The Oregonian/OregonLive won a prestigious feature reporting award this week from the Society of Professional Journalists, marking the newsroom’s first honor in the national contest in six years.
