For all that the Portland Timbers have been this season, it’s what they have yet to grow into that continues to raise eyebrows around the Rose City as the team climbs the league table in hopes of solidifying a playoff spot for the first time since 2021.
With their trio of superb designated players, fiercely effective attack and consistent dominance at Providence Park, the Timbers just haven’t shown the ability to reach peak form away from home. Another opportunity for growth in that department arrived Saturday night.
