About 300 people gathered Sunday, Feb. 22, 2026, to mark the National Day of Remembrance on the anniversary of Executive Order 9066, starting with a candlelight vigil at Elizabeth Caruthers Park before marching to the Portland Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility.

It’s been nearly 84 years since the government incarcerated Joni Kimoto and her family after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor.
