Portland police say they shot and killed a man while serving a search warrant yesterday Monday at a house near Southeast 124th Avenue and Burnside Street.
Police said a tactical team arrived at the scene at about 5:15 p.m.. At about 6:34 p.m., the man shot at the officers, according to the police bureau. Four officers shot back, and the man was pronounced dead minutes later after a medic on the scene had delivered medical aid.
No officers were injured.
Police said in a press release that the search warrant was connected to a major crimes unit investigation, and that a firearm was found near the suspect. Police did not release more details about the case.
The officers who shot the man will be put on leave as the Portland Police Bureau investigates the incident.
