Description

The tax break boost is aimed at independent contractors, start-ups and mom-and-pop shops. It is estimated to cost the city about $1.3 million in its first year and $2.5 million annually thereafter, according to city officials.

Portland elected leaders are pressing ahead with a proposal to significantly increase a tax break for small businesses as the city looks to spur economic growth and opportunities.
