“The lack of investment has been a longstanding grievance,” says Portland City Councilor Mitch Green. “It shouldn’t take 25 years to build a sidewalk. We need to accelerate this work and act boldly.”

Two Portland city councilors have started crafting a proposal that would aim to provide $100 million or more to add sidewalks and paved streets to portions of their districts that have gone decades without them.
