Description

A Portland Police Bureau car in Portland, Ore., on Oct. 8, 2025.

Portland City Council was in session Thursday afternoon and abruptly recessed due to a security concern.

City Council President Elana Pirtle-Guiney interrupted the meeting by saying: “Councilors, we actually need to recess immediately.”

City staff directed all councilors to return to their offices.

City council adjourned the meeting about 45 minutes into the livestream recording below.
