Description

The Independent Police Review recommended holding former Police Chief Chuck Lovell and former Assistant Chief Jami Resch responsible for failing to ensure supervisors reviewed officers’ use of force reports as required by bureau policy. But Mayor Keith Wilson and the city’s deputy administrator rejected the recommendations.

A city investigation into whether high-ranking Portland police supervisors directed officers to use inappropriate force against demonstrators during 2020’s mass protests or failed to ensure after-action reviews of force were completed resulted in no official rebuke of police leadership.
