Description

An empty lot in Portland's Old Town is set to be converted to a day center site by the city and nonprofit services provider Urban Alchemy. Aug. 4, 2025

Portland Mayor Keith Wilson’s plan to end unsheltered homelessness includes funding day centers in each of the city’s four voting districts as a companion to the 12 to 15 overnight-only shelters he’d also like to open. The idea is to offer people staying in nighttime shelters a chance to spend the day in a safe space where they can connect to services.
