Description

Joseph David Emerson, 44, appeared in Multnomah County Circuit Court for an indictment hearing on Thurs., Dec. 7, 2023. Emerson, an airline pilot at the time, is accused of attempting to turn off the engines of a plane he was riding in while off-duty in October.

Joseph David Emerson is set to enter pleas Friday in federal and state courts in Portland to charges that he tried to shut off a plane’s engines over Oregon while riding as an off-duty Alaska Airlines pilot in a cockpit jump seat.
