1/14/25 - LCSO Case #25-0070

Lane County Sheriff’s Office arrests Eugene man during Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) investigation

On January 14th, Lane County Sheriff’s detectives served a search warrant at a residence south of Eugene. The search warrant stemmed from an investigation by the Lane County Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, focusing on child exploitation.

The suspect, Andrew John Hruby, 20, was contacted and arrested. Hruby was lodged at the Lane County Jail on ten counts of Encouraging Child Sex Abuse in the 1st Degree. Currently there is no indication of any local victims involved in the case, and the charges are for the possession, not production, of child pornography.

The Lane County Sheriff’s Office received assistance during this investigation from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Springfield Police Department, Oregon State Police, and the Oregon Department of Justice.

This arrest is part of an ongoing effort by local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to combat child exploitation and protect vulnerable members of our community. The investigation is ongoing, and no further details are available at this time. Featured News by Lane County Sheriff

CONGRATULATIONS DANIEL MAZZUCCHI

On January 13, Chief Chapanar swore in Daniel Mazzucchi as Coos Bay Police Department’s (CBPD) newest Reserve Police Officer. Mazzucchi, a North Bend High School graduate, started his path towards becoming a reserve officer in the summer of 2024. Mazzucchi attended and completed the Reserve Officer Training Academy (ROTA). ROTA is a requirement for all Reserve Police Officers as it gives a basic level of knowledge in policing and criminal justice. This entry training is further supplemented by agency level training prior to a Reserve Officer hitting the streets.

Mazzucchi has dedicated numerous volunteer hours towards this goal. We are very thankful for his time and dedication and would like to congratulate him on his accomplishment. Mazzucchi would like to continue his path in law enforcement, someday hoping to attain a Police Officer position.

Mazzucchi was joined at the ceremony by his family, members of the department and City of Coos Bay. Please join us in congratulating Reserve Officer Daniel Mazzucchi on his accomplishment.

Anyone interested in the CBPD Reserve Officer Program please contact Coos Bay Police Officer Moeller or Officer Smith or visit the City of Coos Bay website at https://www.coosbayor.gov/ Featured News by City of Coos Bay
