Description

Overnight road closures are coming to northbound Interstate 205 Friday night as crews begin work to improve portions of the Abernethy Bridge.
Officials with the Oregon Department of Transportation said crews will shut down a section of the bridge, between Oregon City and West Linn, starting Friday at 11 p.m.

Crews are looking to pour concrete throughout the night. That work is expected to last until Saturday morning. The on-ramp from Oregon Route 43 to northbound I-205 will also be closed.
The bridge will be closed overnight several more times in August.
Interstate 5 will also be closed overnight through Portland’s Rose Quarter starting at 10 p.m. Saturday.

ODOT crews are installing a new overhead sign near the Oregon Convention Center this weekend. They warn the I-5 closure could last through Sunday afternoon.
This weekend’s closures are a preview of several upcoming shutdowns this month aimed at improving Oregon’s aging roads.
ODOT says crews will close the Interstate Bridge in Portland next week to conduct routine bridge inspections. The bridge will be closed in one direction each night, Monday through Thursday, starting at 10 p.m.
The work needed on the top side of the bridge requires crews to shut down the road.
Overnight closure schedule through next week:
- Friday: Northbound I-205 at Abernethy Bridge, 11 p.m. to Saturday morning.
- Saturday: Both directions of I-5 in the Rose Quarter, 10 p.m. to about noon Sunday.
- Monday: Southbound I-5 on the Interstate Bridge, 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. Tuesday.
- Tuesday: Southbound I-5 on the Interstate Bridge, 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. Wednesday.
- Wednesday: Northbound I-5 on the Interstate Bridge, 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Thursday.
- Thursday: Northbound I-5 on the Interstate Bridge, 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Friday.
- Friday, July 17: Northbound I-205 at Abernethy Bridge, 11 p.m. to Saturday morning.July 18: Northbound I-205 at Abernethy Bridge, 11 p.m. to Sunday morning.
For five weeks beginning on Sept. 11, ODOT will also close all southbound lanes of I-5 near the Rose Quarter. The agency will work to repair a 2-mile stretch of the highway.
The closure is part of the Rose Quarter Improvement Project, aimed at upgrading the freeway’s safety and addressing congestion issues. The closures will help fix the structural problems caused by decades of weather and heavy use, according to officials.
Ahead of all these closures, officials are reminding drivers to factor in extra time for detours and delays.
