Our communities are feeling the impacts of the heavy rains and high winds. Power outages are common with winter weather. Take additional action now in case you lose power.   
  
- Stock up on essentials: Have flashlights, batteries, portable chargers, and blankets ready.  
- Keep extra supplies: If safe to do so, store a few days’ worth of food, water, medications, and other essentials.   
  
During an outage:   
- Reserve your cell phone battery for emergencies.  
- Check on your friends and loved ones.  
- Only call 911 for life safety emergencies.  
-  Keep freezers and refrigerators closed.   
-  Only use generators outdoors and away from windows.  
-  Do not use a gas stove to heat your home.  
-  Disconnect appliances and electronics to avoid damage from electrical surges.  
-  Use alternate plans for refrigerating medicines or power dependent medical devices.   
-  If safe, go to an alternate location for heating or cooling.
