Beaver Football Routs San Diego State
OSU release - CORVALLIS, Ore. —Jesse Legree caught 10 passes for 191 yards and three touchdowns to become the first player in Oregon State history with six straight 100-yard receiving games, and the Beavers rolled past San Diego State, 66-14, on Saturday at Reser Stadium. Oregon State (4-2, 2-0 Pac-12) won its fourth straight game for the first time since closing the 2022 season and extended its win streak over the Aztecs to six. The 66 points were the Beavers' most since a 68-point game against Montana State in 2022, and the 52-point margin was their largest since a 77-3 win over Nicholls State in 2012. Braden Atkinson completed 29 of 38 passes for 409 yards and five touchdowns. It was his sixth straight 300-yard game, leaving him one short of Sean Mannion's school-record seven in a row in 2013, and his second straight 400-yard game, something no Beaver had done since Mannion that same season. Atkinson's 21 touchdown passes tie Sean Canfield (2009) and DJ Uiagalelei (2023) for sixth on Oregon State's single-season list, and he went over 2,000 yards for the year in the first quarter. Legree broke the record of five straight 100-yard games he had shared with Mike Hass (2005) and Brandin Cooks (2013). His 10 catches were a career high, and his three touchdowns give him 12 on the season, tied with James Newson (2002) for third in program history. The true freshman has 932 receiving yards through six games. Oregon State scored touchdowns on each of its first five possessions. The opening drive went 75 yards in 11 plays and ended with an unusual connection, as Atkinson found fellow quarterback Maalik Murphy for a 2-yard touchdown. AJ Newberry followed with a 27-yard touchdown run, and Legree's 11-yard catch on the first play of the second quarter made it 21-0. After San Diego State turned the ball over on downs at its own 32, Cornell Hatcher Jr. scored from a yard out. Decorion Temple then caught a 12-yard touchdown pass to finish a 10-play, 64-yard drive for a 35-0 lead. The Aztecs got on the board with 25 seconds left in the half on an 11-yard pass from Jayden Denegal to Jacob Bostick. Caleb Ojeda answered with a 53-yard field goal as time expired, tying his career long, to send Oregon State into the break ahead 38-7. Legree took over from there. He caught a 71-yard touchdown pass on the Beavers' first snap of the second half, his third catch of 70 or more yards this season, and added a 31-yard score less than three minutes later. Jabari Odoemenem intercepted Draiden Trudeau on the next San Diego State possession, and Jake Reichle finished the ensuing drive with a 1-yard touchdown run to make it 59-7. San Diego State's Jaylon Hawkins returned the next kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown. Murphy, who completed all eight of his passes, closed the scoring early in the fourth quarter with a 7-yard touchdown pass to Eddie Freauff, capping a 14-play, 75-yard drive that took 7:48 off the clock. Oregon State finished with 651 yards of offense, its second straight game over 600 yards, which had never happened in program history. The total ranks seventh in school history and came one week after the Beavers piled up 650 at Colorado State. Oregon State has scored 207 points over its last four games, a program record for a four-game stretch. The defense was just as dominant. The Beavers held San Diego State to 147 total yards and six first downs, the fewest first downs by an Oregon State opponent since at least 1996. The Aztecs completed 9 of 27 passes and converted 2 of 13 third downs. Odoemenem led Oregon State with seven tackles to go with his interception. Oregon State held the ball for a school-record 42:18. The Beavers ran 92 plays, picked up 35 first downs and converted 12 of 17 third downs. Eric Olsen caught three passes for 44 yards, extending his streak of games with a reception to 21. Kourdey Glass added 51 rushing yards on 10 carries. Oregon State remains home to face Washington State on Saturday, Oct. 17. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m., on USA Network.

OSU release - SPRINGFIELD, Ore. & MADISON, Wisc. – Oregon State's top runners posted a strong result in a field of 17 ranked teams with a 24th place result at the Nuttycombe Invitational and Jadyn Kipe led the rest of the team with a top-50 finish at the Dellinger Invitational. "We were much improved from two weeks ago. This is a national-caliber field. We were likely ranked 30th of 34 teams coming in so we upgraded today," head coach Louie Quintana said. "We raced more cohesive and had a simple plan and executed it. We still have some parts that could have raced better today - but those things happen. I am about the leap forward in this national field. I know they are building momentum heading into conference," Quintana continued. Noemi Lundgren led the top squad in Madison, placing 78th in 20:38.6, followed by Sage Brooks in 103rd just 16 seconds later. Maella Hodgson and Ainsley Herron both finished in the top-130 just a shade over 21 minutes total and Maya Baechler rounded out the scoring runners in 155th. The Beavers second squad finished 13th at the Dellinger Invitational in Springfield.
