Description

A covered area beneath solar panels is among the amenities of the courtyard behind Beaverton's first purpose-built homeless shelter, seen here in November. The shelter was built, in part, with funding from Oregon.

A new statewide shelter system, overseen by Oregon Housing and Community Services, launched in July when Gov. Tina Kotek signed House Bill 3644 into law.
