Republican Rep. Ed Diehl of Scio launched a campaign for governor after his success helping to refer transportation taxes to voters. Now, he hopes to put another tax measure passed by Democratic lawmakers in front of voters.

Oregon Republicans have developed something of a familiar strategy when they seek to block revenue-raising measures they failed to derail in Salem: Taking legislative Democrats’ decision to the voters.
