Description

About 12,000 people currently are serving time in Oregon prisons. That’s on par with the population figures from late 2002, data shows.

The number of people sentenced to prison each month in Oregon has climbed since the pandemic but isn’t expected to return to pre-pandemic levels until 2029, according to a state forecast.
