OHA release - OHA’s Oregon Health Policy Board (OHPB) is launching a new committee to help shape policies that will ensure Oregonians can get the care they need at a price they can afford. Passionate and diverse voices from across Oregon should apply by April 11 to serve on this committee. The Committee on Health Care Affordability will bring together people with the following perspectives to propose meaningful solutions to lower costs and make health care more affordable across the state: Health Care Consumers -- people who directly experience the health care system, including patients, caregivers, and family members navigating health care affordability challenges. Patient Advocates -- those working independently or with advocacy organizations to improve health care policies and patient outcomes. Health Care Purchasers -- including employers, business coalitions, labor organizations, and government agencies that arrange or negotiate health coverage. Health Economist Experts -- professionals with deep knowledge of economic theories and methods who analyze health care costs and spending trends. Health Policy Experts – professionals with deep knowledge of the health care system and experience in research, academia, consulting, policy groups, or community organizations focused on health care and government. To apply, please complete the online Member Application and email it to [email protected] by Friday, April 11. Learn more about the committee and recruitment process here. Also, OHPB is launching and recruiting members for the related Industry Advisory Committee—an industry-led committee that will provide input to the Committee on Health Care Affordability. We encourage health care insurers, providers, and industry leaders from all corners of the state to apply to serve on this committee by April 11. Questions about both committees can be emailed.
