Description

Oregon’s elected leaders, including Gov. Tina Kotek, have sought to bolster safety as scientists predict the threat of a Cascadia subduction zone earthquake — which could top a magnitude 8 or 9 quake — looms in coming decades.

Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek ordered that every new state building larger than 10,000 square feet in size meet the strictest earthquake safety standards and that older buildings be upgraded to current life safety standards by 2060.
