Good morning, Northwest.

Four survivors, two from the Almeda fire and two from the Beachie Creek fire, share their stories five years after the 2020 Labor Day wildfires.

In other news, St. Agatha Catholic School rescinded the enrollment of a student with same-sex parents. Several parents have withdrawn their children from school due to the decision, and at least one teacher has also resigned.

Also, Oregon state Rep. Cyrus Javadi announced he’s switching political parties.

Checking in with survivors of the 2020 Labor Day fires

OPB got a glimpse of the new Rothko Pavilion

The Rothko Pavilion is part of the Portland Art Museum’s $111 million renovation that debuts in November.

The renovation adds 100,000 square feet of new museum space, including new terraces and galleries, and floor-to-ceiling windows looking out to the city.

Museum director Brian Ferriso talked about what this expansion brings to the Museum.
