Description

The Oregon National Primate Research Center, a 154-acre campus in Hillsboro, houses nearly 5,000 monkeys and baboons used in research on vaccines, infectious diseases, neuroscience, reproductive health and aging.

The proposal to convert Oregon Health & Science University’s controversial primate research center into a sanctuary for thousands of animals is no longer viable because there is no federal funding available to pay for it, according to multiple faculty members and an internal email obtained by The Oregonian/OregonLive.
