Description

ODFW release - LA GRANDE, Ore. – All northeast Oregon Access and Habitat (A&H) access areas will reopen effective Aug. 29. These private land access areas had been closed due to wildfire concerns.  Improved conditions in northeast Oregon including cooler temperatures, higher humidity levels, reduced fire activity, and a favorable extended forecast support reopening these areas.  Hunters should continue to use caution. Fire danger remains elevated in many parts of the state, and conditions can change quickly. Please check local fire restrictions and current fire danger levels before heading out, and review ODFW’s guidance on hunting during fire season. Hunters are also reminded to carry firefighting equipment, including a shovel and adequate water. Hunters are responsible for knowing and following fire restrictions when outdoors.  The A&H access areas that will reopen are M.R King Ranches, Troy Ranches, Iron Mountain, Virtue Flat, Foster Ranch, Glass Hill, Owsley Canyon, Bear Creek, Carman Ranch, Harshfield Ranch, Divide Ridge, Heppner Regulated Hunt Area, Social Ridge, Four Mile, and Bunker Hill. Additionally, the Upland Cooperative Access Program (UCAP) lands that allow year-round Welcome to Hunt access will reopen.  Southwest Oregon update: Kueny Access Area, Alvord Access Area, and Pine Creek Access areas remain temporarily closed to the public due to extreme fire danger.  Learn about hunting access on private lands through ODFW's A&H program.
