City of North Bend release – Early Wednesday morning, Nov. 5, at about 5:30 a.m., North Bend Police officers responded to a report from a concerned citizen who saw a man damaging property near City Hall. Officers arrived quickly and found 41-year-old Jeffery Allen Hill, a transient, still in the area. Hill was arrested without further problems and taken to the Coos County Jail. Hill is facing six counts of Criminal Mischief in the First Degree and three counts of Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree after he is alleged to have damaged eight City-owned vehicles and multiple windows at the North Bend Public Works building. The total amount of damage is still being figured out, and repair estimates are being gathered. Hill is already well known to local officers, with 1,092 police contacts since 1998 listed in the countywide shared law enforcement database. Since July 1, 2025, he has been arrested 31 times within the City of North Bend. All of the damaged property belongs to the City of North Bend. While the City will file insurance claims, repeated vandalism like this ultimately affects taxpayers. Sadly, this kind of destructive behavior has not only targeted City property — it has also impacted local businesses, neighborhoods, and residents who keep having to deal with the disruption and damage caused by Hill’s actions. It is disheartening that the people of North Bend must repeatedly bear the consequences of one individual’s disregard for the safety and well-being of our community. Additional note: Officers have also discovered damage to the former Coos County Courthouse Annex and are currently investigating that incident.
