Thousands of protesters march in Portland, Ore., protesting President Trump’s administration, April 5, 2025, part of “Hands Off” protests taking place around the country. National

Dozens of demonstrations are scheduled for Saturday across Oregon and Southwest Washington, in protest of President Donald Trump’s immigration policies.

The “No Kings” protests also coincide with a military parade in Washington, D.C. to celebrate Trump’s 79th birthday and honor the 250th birthday of the U.S. Army. It’s also Flag Day.

More than 1,500 protests are scheduled nationwide, as was the case during the April 5 "Hands Off" nationwide protest movement.

“No Kings is a nationwide day of defiance,” organizers say in a statement at NoKings.org. “From city blocks to small towns, from courthouse steps to community parks, we’re taking action to reject authoritarianism—and show the world what democracy really looks like.”

Portland protests are expected to begin as early as 9 a.m. on Saturday, and take place at Westmoreland Park, the Oregon Convention Center, Salmon Street Springs, and Tom McCall Waterfront Park. Traffic will likely be impacted throughout the day near the demonstrations, especially near downtown Portland.

OPB will be providing live coverage from protests on Saturday.

When the April 5 protests were underway, several downtown streets were closed, including Naito Parkway, and the Burnside and Morrison bridges were closed temporarily for marchers.

In Vancouver on Saturday, protests are planned at the waterfront and at Gretchen Fraser Neighborhood Park.

Elsewhere in the metro area, “No Kings” protests are planned in Forest Grove, Hillsboro, Beaverton, Tigard, Newberg, Canby, Oregon City, Clackamas, Gresham, Sandy and Welches.

U.S. Rep. Janelle Bynum is expected to appear at the Clackamas Town Center demonstration Saturday, according to Clackamas County Democrats.

Across the state, protests are also scheduled along the Oregon Coast, from Gold Beach to Astoria, and in Central, Southern and northeastern Oregon.

In Portland over the last two weeks, at least four people seeking asylum have been arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers. In each case, the asylum seeker was detained after showing up for a required hearing. At least two people in Vancouver and two people in Eugene were arrested under similar circumstances.

Protesters outside of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement office in Portland, June 11, 2025, opposing the Trump administration's immigration enforcement actions.

High-profile demonstrations over similar ICE activity began on June 6 in Los Angeles and started to wind down after Mayor Karen Bass instituted a curfew for a small part of the city on Tuesday night. Trump deployed National Guard troops there to quell the protests, against the wishes of local authorities.

The Trump administration says the raids are removing “violent criminal illegal immigrants from communities.”

In Portland on Tuesday, dozens of people protested outside the ICE facility, and federal officers dispersed them. No arrests were reported. On Wednesday night people again protested outside the facility, and Portland police arrested three people.
