Description

Sabrina Ionescu has entered rare territory in the world of signature shoes.

The New York Liberty and former Oregon Ducks’ basketball star unveiled her first Nike signature shoe “Sabrina 1″ on Thursday.

Ionescu joins an exclusive group of women athletes including Serena Williams, Megan Rapinoe, Naomi Osaka, Elena Delle-Donne with a signature shoe line. Ionescu is the first woman athlete to deliver a full unisex apparel collection.

The shoe was inspired by Ionescu’s national heritage, the intricate embroidery patterns on the shoe’s forefront and eye-stays pay homage to traditional Romanian art and architecture.

The shoe and apparel line is a result of Ionescu’s growing popularity. She was a phenom while playing for the Ducks and she finished her career as the first player in NCAA history to record 2,000 points, 1,000 assists, and 1,000 rebounds.

Ionescu was the No. 1 pick in the 2020 WNBA draft. Ionescu averaged 17.4 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 6.3 assists per game while leading the Liberty to the playoffs during the 2022 season. Ionescu was selected for the 2022 WNBA All-Star Game and named to the All-WNBA Second Team.

The entire Nike Sabrina 1 footwear and apparel collection is expected to be available during the summer. Ionescu’s first signature apparel line includes a hoodie, tees, shorts and a cross-body bag.
