Newark Mayor Ras J. Baraka was arrested Friday. He addressed reporters outside the Delaney Hall privately owned and operated immigrant detention center in Newark on May 7, 2025.

NEWARK, N.J. — Newark Mayor Ras Baraka was arrested Friday at a federal immigration detention center where he has been protesting its opening this week, a federal prosecutor said.
