Description

The shelter is named after Bethanie, a regular Blanchet House guest who died on the streets while unhoused. At the time of her death there were no overnight emergency shelters for women in Portland.

A women’s homeless shelter called Bethanie’s Room will open in the Pearl District on Feb. 9, according to Blanchet House, the privately funded homeless services nonprofit that will operate the shelter.
