Description
A new wildfire is burning in Klickitat County north of the Burdoin Fire in Washington.
The Brewer Road Fire, which broke out Wednesday afternoon, prompted officials to issue Level 3 (Go Now!) evacuation orders for those living in the nearby towns of Klickitat, Wahkiacus and other surrounding areas.
Level 2 evacuation orders are also in place. The fire is estimated to be over 50 acres as of Wednesday afternoon.
Washington State Parks has closed parts of the Klickitat Trail due to the wildfire. It also prompted traffic officials to shut down State Road 142 in both directions from milepost 13 to 0 near State Road 14.
A separate brush fire also broke out Wednesday along the Bickleton Highway, east of Goldendale, called the Oak Flat Fire.
Officials there downgraded Level 3 evacuation orders to Level 1 (Get Ready) notices Wednesday evening. That fire is estimated to be about 40 acres.
Bickleton Highway is closed from Woodland Road to Rock Creek, according to the Klickitat County Emergency Management.
The cause of the fires are currently unknown.
