Description

A new report finds that public schools, child welfare agencies and other entities could do more to prevent youth homelessness. In this file photo, students are pictured at Community Transitional School in Portland, a small, tuition-free private school that has served Portland children dealing with homelessness since 1990.

Twenty-year-old Mikayla Foreman knows her experience is meaningful. Dealing with homelessness since 18 and currently living in a shelter, Foreman has managed to continue her academic journey, studying for exams this month in hopes of attaining a nursing degree.
