Description

Led by students at Hillsboro High School, hundreds of young people walked out of class on a December Friday and marched first to Shute Park and then the Hillsboro Civic Center in protest of ICE activity in their communities. Hillsboro School District estimated close to 1,600 students participated from HilHi, Century, Glencoe and Liberty high schools, as well as South Meadows, Poynter and R.A. Brown middle schools.

Oregon school districts could be required to expand their policies on what to do should federal immigration agents come onto school grounds, under a draft bill that is expected to be taken up during the upcoming legislative session next month.
